Student Profiles: Shaki

We wanted to give a little exposure to the student life here at the Mikia Schools, and our first interviewee will be our excellent 5th-Grader Shaki.

Shaki lives with her three younger siblings and grandparents in the Bagamoyo community. She says, "I love the fun activities we do at Mikia." Whether it's sports, cooking, or career immersion trips Shaki has been eager and smiling every day. Her personal favorite is the Tourism Industry Shadow day, where she gets to experience a day in the life of a tour guide in Bagamoyo. "One day, I hope to be a surf instructor, so that every day I can spend my time in the blue water."

In class, she loves math, and is beginning to take excelled courses in Pre-Algebra. "I think it comes easy to me because when I was younger, I would help my Papa with harvest and he would have me count the vegetables."

We wish Shaki continued success and cannot wait for her growth in future years!
